Principal's Message

Mrs. Helen Choi

Dear 153rd St. Elementary Families,

My name is Helen Choi and I am excited and honored to introduce myself as the next principal of 153rd St. Elementary School. I am truly looking forward to working with all of you to provide an exceptional educational experience for each and every one of our students. One of my top priorities is to build relationships with students, teachers, staff members, parents, and community groups to learn as much as I can about the school. With your input and feedback, we can collaborate to improve existing programs and brainstorm together to create and implement new learning opportunities for students that are engaging and challenging.

Your child’s teacher and the rest of our staff are eager to be your partner in your child’s education, and we invite you to call or visit us when you have a question regarding your child’s progress in school.  We plan to keep you informed about school events and activities by sending home a monthly calendar, event flyers, information on our marquee, through our telephone system and emails, and on our website. Please give your attention to all information sent to you so you will be fully informed and prepared for this school year!

We also welcome new staff, highly qualified members to our team this year:  Mr. Garcia, Assistant Principal, Ms. Morales, 1st Grade Dual Language teacher, Ms. Jeon, 4th Grade Teacher, Ms. Zeitlin, 4th Grade Teacher, and Ms. Baxter, DHH teacher. In addition, we have a new parent community rep, Ms. De La Torre.

Look out for our opening packet your child will be given during the first week of school. It contains important documents that need to be returned by Friday, August 17th.

I consider it an honor and privilege to be your school principal and look forward to the start of the school year.  As always, I have an open door policy so feel free to stop by anytime.

Sincerely,

Helen Choi, principal
