Dual Language Program
Dual Language Academies foster bi-literate students with access to instruction that is research-proven to increase academic achievement. According to a study of Dual Language schools conducted by Parkes and Ruth (2011), "parents are satisfied in 3 areas of Dual Language programs: academic, linguistic, and multicultural proficiency."
- According to Education Week (2012), "several studies in recent years have demonstrated that ELL students and other subgroups, such as African-American students, do well in Dual Language programs."
- The State Seal of Biliteracy (SSB), per Assembly Bill 815 (Brownley, Chapter 618, Statutes of 2011), recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing one or more languages in addition to English.
- The SSB will be awarded by the Superintendent of Public Instruction in accordance with specified criteria set forth in the legislation.
Our Dual Language Spanish Immersion program offers instruction in a 50/50 model.
